  • Yes, we accept most major insurances for therapy. We are in-network with the following insurance providers:

    • Aetna

    • Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas

    • Cigna / Evernorth

    • Medicare

    • Magellan

    • United HealthCare / Optum

      If you're unsure about your coverage, our team can help you verify your mental health benefits before your first therapy appointment. We want to make accessing quality mental health care as smooth and stress-free as possible.

  • You can book a therapy session by calling us, using our online contact form, or sending us an email. Our Client Care Coordinator will help match you with the right therapist based on your needs, preferences, location and availability.

    We offer in-person therapy at our clinics and online therapy sessions (in Texas) for those who prefer remote care.

  • First therapy sessions are a safe space to share your story and goals.

    Your first therapy appointment is all about getting to know you. Your licensed therapist will ask about your background, current challenges, and what you're hoping to gain from therapy. Together, you'll begin to create a customized treatment plan that supports your goals.

    We believe therapy should feel safe, empowering, and tailored to you from the very beginning.

  • Yes. SoLuna Mental Wellness offers therapy for:

    • Teenagers and adolescents

    Our therapists specialize in child therapy, play therapy, teen counseling, family therapy, couple’s and individual adult therapy. We’re here to support every stage of life.

  • Yes! We offer secure virtual therapy sessions for clients located in Texas. Online counseling is a flexible, convenient option that allows you to get the support you need from the comfort of home. Whether you're managing anxiety, depression, relationship issues, or burnout—our therapists are ready to meet you where you are.

  • We offer a wide range of evidence-based and integrative mental health services, including:

    • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

    • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

    • EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)

    • Play Therapy

    • Trauma-Informed Therapy

    • Family Systems Therapy

    • Narrative Therapy

    • Culturally Responsive and LGBTQ+ Affirming Care

    • Faith-based and spiritually-integrated therapy (as requested)

  • Most individual sessions last about 50 minutes. Many clients begin with weekly therapy and adjust frequency over time depending on their goals and progress. Your therapist will collaborate with you to determine the best schedule for your care.

  • The therapeutic relationship is key to healing. If you don’t feel comfortable or connected with your therapist, let us know. We’ll help you find a better fit. We’re committed to providing a safe, affirming space for every client.

  • Coming soon, we will be offering medication management in-house by our licensed Psychiatrist.

    Our therapists do not prescribe medication, they focus on talk therapy and holistic mental health care.

    Currently, we refer you to trusted psychiatric providers or collaborate with your primary care doctor if medication support is needed.

  • We chose SoLuna Mental Wellness to reflect our unique identity, values, and the personalized mental health services we provide. As an employee-owned and operated business, we evolved to create a practice aligned with our mission: offering therapy that is deeply rooted, transformative, and attentive to the whole human experience.

    The name SoLuna honors the balance between light and dark, day and night—symbolizing the cyclical nature of healing and growth. We provide the same high-quality therapy services with a more intentional focus on your unique path to wellness.

CLIENT NOTICE FOR FILING A COMPLAINT
The nature of the services provided by SoLuna Mental Wellness are voluntary. If at any point in the relationship with your therapist you are unhappy or feeling uncomfortable, you are encouraged to first contact clinic directors Andrea Shiflet, andreas@solunamw.com or Shelby Doyle, shelbyd@solunamw.com to talk about your concerns. SoLuna Mental Wellness wants you to be satisfied with your care and encourage open communication to help ensure your wellness needs are being met.
In addition to reaching out to SoLuna Mental Wellness as a first means of filing a complaint, you are also able to file a formal complaint with the following:

The Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council investigates and prosecutes professional misconduct committed by marriage and family therapists, professional counselors, psychologists, psychological associates, social workers, and licensed specialists in school psychology.
Although not every complaint against or dispute with a licensee involves professional misconduct, the Executive Council will provide you with information about how to file a complaint.
